...I am so in love. I think the only thing they're missing is the red heel. I cannot wait to wear them! {...ps! because they are removable, I can also wear them as bracelets/cuffs, hooked onto my vintage chain necklace or even in my hair ...I know!}
Не хуже оригинала получилось.

YSL Cage Metallic Sandals
~ DIY ~

Inspired by the YSL Cage Sandal in silver metallic leather {which are now on sale for $799}, I decided to just make my own. Now, this would probably have been easier had I just used 1/8" ribbon and glue to make the grid but I didn't want it to look costume-y. And in the meantime, I also made a caged cuff and choker and I'm honestly thinking about making a belt but that would take forever.

What you'll need . . .

cage-metallic-ysl-heel-diy-0
Leather {I used an old leather skirt I don't like}, ruler, razor, 3/8" black ribbon for ankle {YSL's are velvet, I used satin}, 1/8" ribbon to tie on front {matching color - I spray painted mine but it kind of rubbed off}, silver heels & silver spray paint {if you have black heels, you can skip the spray paint}.

Other possible closure options if you don't have a sewing machine {or even if you do}
* Velcro {stick on or hand stitch on}
* Elastic -this will work also if you don't have enough leather. {Use a solid piece in the back for a more fitted look or thin horizontal strips all the way down the back}
* Eyelets/Lace-up
* Hooks/Lace-up
* Buckles
* Chains

Wearing options
* Fold over the top and show the suede side.
* More ties or one long leather strip -criss-crossed all the way {like the Chloe's or Rodarte's} I actually would have preferred this but I only had enough leather left to make two for each side.
* With flats
* Over jeans/leggings

DIY Ankle Fringe

I bought these Jessica Simpson nude patent heels quite a while ago and would have returned them if there weren't $50. I figure for $50 I'll wear them at some point, even if under long pants because I don't really love how they make my legs look.

I probably wouldn't buy a pair of ankle fringe shoes but since the idea is so simple, I though, why not? You can make the fringe cuffs smaller ...to hit at your actual ankle but I find that sometimes cuts off my leg. The lower swag under the ankle bone elongates the leg a bit and the fringe actually changed the way my legs appear in the shoes and now I'm happy with them.

The one problem I foresee is when I walk, the fringe sometimes gets caught under my heel. Otherwise ...LOVE.

I'm 97% sure they'll stay without having to secure to the shoe ...but I may have to test them out and get back to you on that. So far so good though. And even though one is a teeny tiny too short, you can't tell and it still works ...and really, you can make them as tall as you like.

* Turn Your Strappy Sandals into Furry Friends *

Easy Fur Sandal DIY, Reed Krakoff fur sandals photo, Jak and jil photo reed krakoff sandals

Ironically, last February I posted about the Reed Krakoff Fall 2010 collection ...how their sleeveless coat was rather similar to mine & how I was going to DIY their fur sandals. Well, a year later, I finally got around to doing it. What was holding me back? Well, the right shoe really. I was sort of set on a black strappy sandal that went up the ankle as the original did but didn't realize I had a pair of perfectly suitable strappy sandals already in my closet. And since I've had the fur lying around for months now just awaiting the right shoe, all I needed were a pair of scissors to complete the job. Here's a quick step-by-step for you.

* Strappy sandalsthat fit snugly ...flats will work too.
* Faux fur. I found mine at JoAnn's pre-cut in the ribbon section and purchased one yard. If you have to cut it yourself, it's exactly 4inches in width.
* Scissors

steps

* With fur pointing down, insert fur into sandal. Try on your shoe and adjust where you'd like your fur to line up at your toes and ankle.

* Cut fur accordingly at ankle.

* Mine ended up being about 7-1/2" long {and I wear a size 9 shoe}. You may also choose to cut your fur first, then try them on and trim excess if necessary. Adjust any fur that may be stuck under the straps so it lays nicely. You'll have a bit of shedding at first but that's about it.

*Note, if you have a pair of boots with buckles, you can achieve a Louboutin look as well.
